House Rules in Sober Houses

We offer a streamlined application process by accepting applications online and offering same-day approval in most cases. We understand the anxiety your clients face in a transition, as well as the challenges our referral partners face on a daily basis. All Harbor House Review sober living homes strictly follow NARR Certification requirements and work collaboratively with NARR’s state affiliates to improve the quality of sober living for all guests. Guest Applications

Additionally, we will screen if an applicant has ever been convicted of a sex offense or arson. These are serious offenses that are undeniably incompatible with Harbor House Review Review’s mission of providing a supportive environment for individuals in recovery. These applicants are not accepted at our homes under any circumstances. Our mission is to build sober living communities where guests are supported in their recovery journeys.

Guests adhere to a curfew, submit to drug and alcohol screenings, and participate in home and community events. All Harbor House Review homes are structured sober living environments. There are many Oxford House model sober living homes throughout North Carolina, including in Gastonia and throughout the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area. Harbor House Review serves our residents in a structured sober living model. Our goal is to help guests maintain their sobriety and build a solid foundation for a healthy, independent life. We are committed to having a cautious screening process to ensure that applicants are a compatible match to live in our homes.

Most of our guests are referred by other organizations in the continuum of care. We have strong relationships with clinical facilities, correctional facilities, and community organizations. Approved applicants can move in as soon as there is a bed available. We can often accommodate your move-in day within 24-hours of your application. We see a world where every person in recovery has access to a supportive, healthy, and safe home environment built on respect, focused on recovery, and led by peers.

The screening process includes a range of questions that are designed to assess an applicant’s suitability for a sober living community. The process begins with basic background questions screening for an applicant’s recovery status, sober date, and substance of choice. It is our top priority to make sure our homes offer a supportive environment for both our guests and the local community and neighborhoods. Sober house certification is awarded by state agencies organized under the National Alliance for Recovery Residences, or NARR.

We have a comprehensive training program to equip them in handling guest concerns, house emergencies, and in their leadership of the recovery environment in the home. In general, House mentors have demonstrated a commitment to their recovery and a desire to give back to their recovery community by managing a sober house. Nearly all have lived in a Harbor House Review home prior to becoming House Mentors, and know what it’s like to be a guest. Applications are accepted on our website, as well as faxed, e-mailed, or over the phone. We carefully screen each application and conduct a telephone screen prior to approval to ensure a good fit in our homes.
